LVMLabs Formed

After months of general operation without a specific name or website, LVMLabs is finally official and formed!

(For those who don’t know, it was coordinated and done through real life w/ friends or through chats)

“LVMLabs”, pronounced “L V M Labs” or “Lima-Victor-Mike Labs”, got its name from the founder Ryan (or me). It carries the suffix of my US FCC amateur radio callsign, and then has “Labs” to signify we do quite a lot of things here, just like a real lab.

Some cool new changes:

Changes

Website

After a few hours of tinkering around with HTML, I called it quits and decided to use Hugo w/ Hextra. It’s a cool static site generator with a bunch of themes, and I decided Hextra looked good. Right now, it’s a bit empty, considering we don’t have any official media or content nor official blog posts / documentation. As time progresses and we collect more documentation professionally logged (if this is considered professional), it will come up here.

Design & Assets

For now, our logo. Our logo is just a basic bold “LVM” and a regular “Labs”. It’s availble in both italics and non italic. Nothing really special to see, but oh well. Logo’s a logo. We also have multiple sized favicons, in PNGs, ICOs, and SVGs, so it works for everyone. (looking at you iPhone users!)

So… what will we do now?

Not much will change. Our previous projects and efforts (listed on the homepage for new people) will still continue, just in a more professional and organized (yay, long and cool words, very professional) way.

Goals for the Future

Some goals include:

  • Dedicated domain (probably lvmlabs.org)
  • Changing of all other existing works to have LVMLabs branding (branding? is that the word?)
  • 501(c)(3) status with HCB (w/ The Hack Foundation, d.b.a. Hack Club)

73!
